The “Clean Eating” Concept Doesn’t Exist

Nowadays, it has become fashionable to be healthy: people try to lead an active lifestyle, pay attention to sports, and adhere to healthy eating, denying themselves many culinary pleasures. But recently, scientists from the Israeli Weizmann Institute made a sensational statement: the concept of clean eating does not exist in principle!
What does clean eating mean
This concept is meant under different names: clean eating, healthy eating, diet food, clean food, clean diet, and so on. The supporters of the theory “healthy food help lose weight and build muscle without fat” abandon from eating junk food, sweets, bakery products, and other delicious dishes that they take as “harmful.”
Such people say that “natural” means safe i.e., that which was made by nature is much more good for health. Fortunately, science has finally busted this myth.
Myth busting
The statement was based on the findings of a study in which 800 volunteers took part, who were divided into two groups and for several years the participants from the first group ate only healthy food and the second what was considered to be junk food: convenience foods, chips, soda, frozen products, etc. In total, about 47 thousand various products were involved in the study.
Professors Eran Elinav, Eran Segal, and their colleagues all these years have been carefully watching the wards monitored their health indicators, and as a result, came to an unexpected conclusion.

It turned out that universal healthy nutrition does not exist, and the body of each person reacts to a particular product individually. The participants of both one and the second group observed both positive and negative changes in the body.
For example, the blood sugar level in response to the same food in different participants in the experiment was radically different. Scientists argue that it is for this reason that eating the same way, one person can rapidly gain weight, and the second can remain slim.
At the same time, modern dietetics focuses specifically on the glycemic index, that is, the ability to increase the level of glucose in the blood, which determines how “healthy” this or that food is. But according to the result of the study, this cannot be a universal measure, since blood sugar in each one rises differently.
For example, it turned out that one of the participants in the study, who had tried a lot of diets before losing weight, sugar, “jumped up” from the fact that she was eating tomatoes. And it was enough for her to exclude them from the diet and she began to lose kilograms. And for some, bananas were “laid on their hips” worse than butter baked goods.
Summing up the results of their experiment, scientists noted: “healthy” and “unhealthy” products for each person are an individual concept, and at every stage of their life, there is no universal recipe. Scientists recommend choosing food for themselves, listening to the needs of their body, and focusing on the reaction of intestinal microflora.
